I have a similar issue, also 330D E92 Auto although mine is Pre-LCI but has the 245 engine. Cold start is really lumpy unless you rev it a bit to get the engine going then its fine. Glow plug fault code logged (control), its been into BMW and had the glow plug and control unit swapped. Still no better. seems worse with the cold weather.
I average slightly better mpg in my 330d (38-40mpg) compared to my pre LCI 164bhp E90 320d auto (36-38mpg) My E46 164bhp 320d SE auto was better than both though at around 40-42mpg but it did have narrow Michelin Efficientgrip tyres.

The 330D LCI is both quicker and more economic than the pre LCI. I considered the 335D, but although slightly quicker, it's fuel consumption is much worse, and insurance, and two tubos, and it's not been updated since it's release about 200 years ago - so 330D is was.
330D Fuel Economy - What to try first? Hi All, This week my 330D seems to be having some fuel economy issues so to speak, typically I'd get 24ish MPG town driving (start/stop) which returned 90 miles for every £20 of fuel but now I'm hovering on 18-19MPG. A few days ago the exhaust come away from the bracket (from down pipe to front muffler?)

I've done about 500 miles with a DMS dyno remap on my 330D F31. Initial impressions compared to the MPPK which I had for a couple of years and ~35K miles are : Now runs more smoothly and quieter. Engine is much more urgent and responsive : the upgrade from MPPK to DMS is greater than going from stock to MPPK.

AFAIK, the OEM kit is a bit more than £500. This barely only covers the towbar, you'll need the electric kit and possibly a bracket as well. I'm not sure if the bracket is necessary for the E90, but it is for the E92. A guess would be that you are looking more at £800+ for the towbar and cable kit. Parts for the OEM kit for the E92 is £1033!
