Withthe 1.9 TDI engine, the timing belt change intervals are substantially different and range from 60,000 km to 120,000 km, depending on the engine generation. When buying a car with a 1.9 TDI engine, you should immediately replace the timing belt. 6. Problem With Floating Flywheel.Witholder Golfs there was a 130 and a 150 PD 1.9, which seem to generally be reckoned to be the most reliable. Getting on a bit now. I had a 1.9 TDI 130 PD, now have a 2.0 TDI 170 PD, the newer Happily both the 2.0-litre FSI turbo petrol and the 2.0 HDI turbodiesel can take a lot of abuse, but you still need to be careful. Check that the petrol engine isn't noisy on start-up, because it
19 TDI (Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat) Probably the biggest classic when it comes to diesel engines – Volkswagen’s 1.9 TDI. There is no doubt that throughout Europe, the 1.9 TDI diesel is synonymous with durability, doing a mileage of km without any problems. In addition, in stronger varieties, it provided at least good
Saturday9th June 2012. The Passat will be quite a lot more modern and the 2.0 TDI was the replacement for the higher powered versions of the 1.9 TDI, so that would be the better car IMO. However
VolkswagenVW Golf TDI - VW Golf TDI 1.9 Vs 2.0 - any real difference?. Hi, I'm looking to buy a golf tdi but am looking for real world feedback on engine performance and reliability. The 1.9tdi 105bhp on paper looks pretty basic but how good is this cars acceleration for general overtaking and hill climbing etc. I do a mixture of urban and hilly
The2.0 TDI engines with a pump-injector system debuted in 2003 and were supposed to be as reliable as the 1.9 TDI, and of course more modern. Unfortunately, it turned out differently. The first engine of this design was placed under the hood of the Volkswagen Touran. The 2.0 TDI power unit was available in various power options, the TheFabia vRS is a 1.4 TSi engine and doesn't need super unleaded. The octavia vRS from 2009 is a 2.0 TSi and doesn't need super unleaded. The 2006 octavia vRS (which the OP is looking at) used a 2.0 TFSi engine which can run on 95 Ron when necessaey but should always run on super where available.Theline of VW EA288 1.6 and 2.0 TDI diesel engines was first introduced in 2012 and at that moment almost completely replaced its predecessors on the group’s models. Formally, this family also included 1.4 TDI diesels. Diesel engines EA288 1.6 TDI In 2012, new diesel engines were introduced to replace the power units of the EA189 family.
Ihad the 2.0 tdi 138bhp in match trim for 2 years. Took it from 30k to 80k miles in that time. The car was brilliant, able around town and nippy on B roads, but capable of 60 to 70 mpg on long
Thissame fuel will load up your diesel particulate filter to no end in city driving. The 3rd generation TDI Touareg with the 8 speed transmission is a model of efficiency, if driven properly for MPG. However, if you use the acceleration it is capable of, be prepared for a huge hit in fuel economy.
2001Jetta TDI (auto) Apr 7, 2021. #3. The 1.9 tdi is also a interference engine, you should be fine with the timing belt as long as you maintain it. there are multiple tdi engines that have surpassed 1 million km, these are very reliable if you take good care of it.

My1.9 PD 130 can be remapped to at least 170 simply by changing the software. The 1.9 is an 8 valve engine, whereas the 2.0 is 16 valve. This, as I understand it, allows the arrangement of valves and injector to be more symmetrical and improves the refinement of the engine. Last edited: Mar 22, 2006. W.a8OY3u.
